Current Volunteer Opportunities
We need volunteers for each of two upcoming Calling All Colors conferences. Volunteers (in pairs) will facilitate an activity with about twenty students, then encourage dialogue and reflection afterward. All materials will be provided, and attending a pre-conference training is required for all volunteers. These two conferences are hosted by Grand Valley State University's Allendale campus.
  • The middle school conference is on Monday, April 29. Facilitators are needed from 10am-Noon.
  • The high school conference is on Tuesday, April 30. Facilitators are needed from 10am-Noon.
Volunteers can sign up for one or both days, and must attend one of these pre-conference trainings:
  • Grand Haven Training: Thursday, April 25, 3:00-5:00pm, Central High School, Room #4
  • Holland Training: Monday, April 22, 4:00-6:00pm, GVSU Meijer Campus, Room #148
To sign up, please contact Patricia at office@ethnicdiversity.org or call (616) 846-9074 with the day(s) you'd like to volunteer and which of the two training dates you can attend

On-Going Volunteer Opportunities

Support the Migrant Population

The Migrant Mentoring Program matches community volunteers with a migrant child to meet weekly for duration of the family’s seasonal residence. The program improves academic achievement, develops cross-cultural connections, and increases access to the community for the children and their families. This program requires a yearly commitment to meet with mentees once a week. Recruitment for mentors begins in the early spring each year.
