Hit: Plans for racism summit. It might sound to some in our community like an exercise in political correctness, but be applaud the plans to stage a conference on racism in Ottawa County in February. Ottawa County is hardly a hotbed of hate and tension, but we are not devoid of problems either. Our culture makes it easy for even well-meaning people to build up misperceptions and stereotypes about members of other races and ethnic groups. It makes sense for people of different races to sit down in an open, non-accusatory setting to examine our biases and how to correct them.
