Lakeshore Region Summit on Racism set for May 20

The Lakeshore Region Summit on Racism is 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 at Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College.
More than 600 people are expected to attend, including participants from businesses, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, government and educational institutions.
The format of the event includes a morning and an afternoon session, a luncheon and five topics for breakout sessions. Registration, which costs $20 including lunch, can be done online at www.ethnicdiversity.org.
David Rusk, an expert on urban policy, will discuss “A Social Compact Built on Inclusion.”
George Herrera, CEO of Herrera-Christina Group, Ltd. and head of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will discuss “The Value of Diversity.”
The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance is a nonprofit organization in Holland with the mission to dismantle racial, socioeconomic and institutional barriers to ensure that people of all ethnic backgrounds have equal access and opportunity to participate fully in the life of the community.
