Grant to help with migrant mentoring

Holland, MI —
The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) received a $19,955 grant for its Migrant Mentoring Program.
The money comes from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Outstate Michigan.
To create social and educational experiences for the children of migrant farmers living in the Holland and Grand Haven areas, the program provides volunteer mentors for more than 70 school-aged children. In addition, the mentors gain a deeper understanding of the students’ cultures as a result of the mentor-mentee relationship. The funds will be used to help expand the program.
This is the second grant that the diversity alliance has received from the Ronald McDonald House, which serves 66 Michigan counties.
