Clase de Espanol County Connections (Ottawa County Newsletter) In a continuing effort to improve customer service for Spanish speaking residents and visitors to Ottawa County, the GOLD Training Program has begun offering Conversational Spanish classes for employees. The first students have just completed the six week introductory class, working with Sarah Salguera of the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance. Sarah has an extensive educational background in Spanish language, has lived for many years in Spanish-speaking countries, and currently lives in a bilingual household in the Holland area. The course has been extremely well-received by employees and is providing them with a basic understanding of Spanish pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, as well as custom vocabulary words and commonly used phrases in the departments of Ottawa County. Twenty employees took part in the first session and the second class filled immediately. A third session is being planned for July and August – watch for information coming soon! |
