The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) Internship Program offers emerging young professionals who strive to promote acceptance, celebrate diversity, and empower others a compelling firsthand experience.

Since 1996, LEDA has worked to dismantle barriers to ensure people of all ethnic backgrounds have equal access and opportunities. LEDA forms a bridge between formal and informal leaders and individuals throughout the Lakeshore region through sustainable initiatives and outcomes, including diversity and inclusion conferences and workshops, consulting services, business and community Spanish classes, a migrant mentoring program, a middle and high school program, and more.

If you are passionate and seek to achieve welcoming and inclusive communities for all, we encourage you to join the LEDA Team as an intern. We seek creative and committed individuals who want to help develop innovative solutions to the continuing social issues in the Lakeshore region and beyond.

Project assignments will touch upon all aspects of our diversity and inclusion work. At the end of your internship, you will leave better prepared to “shake the world.”

  • Explore the social and economic importance of nonprofit organizations in the Lakeshore region, Michigan and beyond.

Applicant Requirements
  • To be considered for an internship, students must submit an online application and a cover letter and resume.
  • During the application process, students may be asked to submit writing samples or other supporting materials, depending on the internship applied for.
  • An interview, background check and orientation are required.
  • Intern must be 18 at start of internship.
  • Interns are required to follow all LEDA policies and procedures.
  • Some evening and/or weekends may be required, depending on internship position.
Internship Start Dates
Generally, the first day a fall internship will begin is the Tuesday after Labor Day. Start dates for for winter, spring or summer internships will be agreed upon during the interview process.

Compensation
Although the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance is unable to offer financial compensation, we will offer each student a priceless opportunity to promote acceptance, celebrate diversity, and empower others.

Course credit
To earn college credit, all required course credit paperwork must be submitted and agreed upon by LEDA prior to the start of the internship and in accordance with school policy.
